How did SIC Hoods start?

Will and I (James) from the North West of England set up The Cosplay Company in 2011.  This was a very humble ebay shop selling Halloween masks... then these fun events called comic cons started popping up.  We would get trader tables at some of these shows and our ideas grew.  As we expanded our product range the Assassin's Creed hoods we created became popular not just for cosplayers.  So in 2017 we set up the sister company Stay in Character (SIC).  The new company was focused on providing alt fashion that can be used at events like Ren Faire and comic con but also festivals or unique every day wear.

 

Where are you based?

We are UK based and serve customers internationally.  Orders are shipped from the UK.  Certain popular items are pre-made and sent to fulfillment centers in the US so customers here get orders within 1 week.  Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout based on your location.

 

Is this costume wear or every day clothing?

Many people love our clothing to wear at events but our focus across the range is to make and design quality garments that stand the test of time.  We are well aware that the clothing landscape is dominated by companies with no real focus on sustainability.  We are proud of all our garments and they are designed to be worn over and over.

 

Do you make everything?

All the products we sell are designed and sampled by us here in the UK.  At this stage we work through all the real world practicalities like fit, durability, fabric etc.  Only when we are completely happy will the samples be sent to a trusted factory overseas for production.  We have a close relationship with the factory, this ensures better quality compared to purely handmade or mass-produced garments.

 

Will I need to pay customs duties or import tax?

This depends on your country and local regulations. Any customs duties or import taxes are the responsibility of the customer. We recommend checking your country’s import rules if you’re unsure.

 

How long does shipping take?

Delivery times vary by destination and shipping method. As a general guide:

  • UK orders usually arrive within a few working days

  • European orders typically take 5-10 working days

  • International orders may take 10-15 working days.

 

Are you products suitable for different body types?

Yes.  A key part of our design process is making garments that suit a wide range of body shapes.  Additionally the vast majority of products are unisex designs.

 

How should i wash/ care for the item?

We recommend to machine wash cold and air dry.  In the case of the hoods many come with a detachable face mask so you can wash this more frequently should you need to.

 

Do you do custom orders?

The time involved in getting the right pattern and fabric means we're not able to do custom commissions.  This allows us to maintain consistent quality and faster dispatch times.

 

Can i return or exchange my item?
